# 9 Palm Beach apartment in Barbados

# 9 Palm Beach is located on the ground floor (the 2nd condo in from the end of the block that's close to 1st Street - please see the map above).

This condo is tastefully furnished and high standards of decoration and cleanliness prevail.

The large furnished veranda leads out to the gardens and swimming pool (attractively illuminated at night), down to the beach and the enticing blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.

The comfortable, spacious lounge/dining room offers a ceiling fan, a queen size fully-sprung sofa bed, armchairs, a dining table and chairs, coffee table, a flat screen cable TV and a multi-region DVD/CD player. This room benefits from direct access to the dressing area - with ample wardrobe space - and bathroom. The suite is equipped with 2 telephones for accepting incoming calls and making outgoing local calls - which are free. There is also High Speed Broadband for a laptop via Ethernet (cable supplied).

The kitchen is well-equipped and includes an oven & hob, microwave, large fridge/freezer, a coffee maker and cafetiere, a portable electric fan, an iron & ironing board, crockery, cutlery and glassware – plus a washing machine which is available for guests staying for 14 nights or more.

The large air-conditioned bedroom offers beds that can be made up as a king size or 2 singles, a ceiling fan, a hairdryer, bedside tables and lamps and an en suite dressing area - with a fan and ample wardrobe space - that leads into the bath/shower/w.c. room. A safe is also provided for guests' valuables.

There are parking spaces to the rear of the condos should you wish to hire a car during your stay.

Pat, a friend of the owner - who lives in one of the neighbouring condominiums- will meet and greet you on your arrival at Palm Beach and she will happily answer any questions that you may have regarding your stay in Barbados.

A pre-arranged transfer from Grantley Adams Airport to Palm Beach. (Approx. 40 minute drive. BDS$ 65-BDS$ 80).

A welcome pack of groceries can be ordered to your specification. It will be delivered to the condo prior to your arrival and you will be required to pay for the goods after you arrive.

A deposit cheque (or Banker's Draft/International Money Order if you are not resident in the UK) for 25% is required to secure a booking.

Once I have received your deposit payment I will send you a Booking Confirmation, together with my 'Car Hire' and 'Before you Travel' information.

A cheque (or Banker's Draft/International Money Order if you are not resident in the UK) for the balance will be required 8 weeks prior to your arrival at # 9 Palm Beach.

Should the booking be made less than 8 weeks prior to the arrival date at the accommodation, the full payment will be due.

Full payment must be completed before your stay commences. Therefore, any ‘late’ bookings must be made and finalised no less than 10 days prior to your arrival at # 9 Palm Beach.

10 to 14 days before you arrive in Barbados you will receive a useful information pack that includes maps and many general tips designed to help you get the most out of your holiday.

We had stayed in a property in Maxwell prior to arriving at Palm Beach but our stay there had been overshadowed by rather basic accommodation. We had never stayed in Maxwell or Holetown before. Palm Beach suited us the best.

"Palm Beach is in a fabulous location right on the beach but close to the bars and restaurants in 1st & 2nd Street.

That said we never heard any noise from the bars. The apartment is very well-equipped and has a maid service provided. You have the beauty of having cooking facilities and a fridge etc.

The pool area was well-maintained and there were plenty of sun beds available.

We spent a great day at Mullins Beach as well as eating out at the beach side restaurant one night. The food was as always fabulous. We also splashed out for the Sunday brunch at the nearby Sandy Lane. Expensive but worth it for a treat! You just won't need to eat for the next few days ! Other restaurants worth a mention are Cariba and The Mews. Great meals and service in both.

There are so many great restaurants in and around Holetown you really are spoilt for choice which is why we opted to stay in an apartment rather than an expensive all inclusive hotel.

We also had a great trip swimming with the turtles - great fun ! A must is a visit to Lexy's piano bar too.

All in all Holetown is a great place and Palm Beach is in one of the beach locations to enjoy it ! Hope to return soon !! "

It was so good to be back at Palm Beach again, it really does feel like home now !

We were looking forward to seeing what # 9 was like.

We were picked up promptly at the airport and once again welcomed by Pat's friendly face.

# 9 is situated in a fabulous position next to the pool. It has lovely decor and is obviously well cared for by the owner. Our teenage son was with us this time and the sofa bed was easy to use and large enough for him to sleep comfortably. The bedroom was lovely, the kitchen clean and very well-equipped if you did want to cook. It was very humid during our stay and so the additional fan in the dressing room was very welcome as I prepared for a night out. The welcome pack we had pre-ordered was there as promised and after a long day it was good to be able to grab a cold beer and not spend the time in the supermarket !

Having always visited the same restaurants in the past we tried some new eating places. Irene, thanks so much for recommending Spagos on 2nd Street. Gorgeous Italian food (the pizzas are delicious) and as you said it was reasonably priced. We also tried the takeaway van called The Princess at lunchtime. It moves around Holetown offering Chicken, Rice & Peas and the amazing Macaroni Pie. Each takeaway only worked out to be approx Ł4 each ! Another new find was The Ramshackle Beach Bar. We got a lift but you can catch a bus and drop off outside The Lone Star, then look carefully or you may miss it. Sharing the same beach as The Lone Star you get the fantastic ocean views and food is a lot cheaper than in some Holetown restaurants. We found the food excellent value for money here and wished we had discovered it sooner ! Another tip is to find Marvin on the beach around Surfside. He's a dab hand with the BBQ, and will cook fresh fish and Bajan treats for a small price per head.

"My wife and I had a fabulous time at # 9 Palm Beach in Barbados. We did very little except
read, snorkel, eat, drink, and relax, but that was the point. The condo
was wonderful; very quiet, well appointed, comfortable and in an excellent
location. Our plans are to return close to the same time of year,
although probably not before 2012, so we will definitely be in touch. One
change would be to extend our stay to 8-10 nights, rather than 5.

We ended up dining at the Fish Pot, which was excellent, both in terms of
the cuisine and ambiance. The setting there is lovely, particularly when
the sun is about to dip below the horizon.

"I have stayed at here twice, once in July 2008 for a long weekend and in
September 2008 for 4 weeks.

The pictures are exactly what you will find and the description is accurate regarding the location, layout and facilities:
Air-conditioned bedroom with remote control was a necessity, worked very well, wasn't noisy so didn't keep me awake all night ! Television with island and cable TV, DVD/CD audio all worked perfectly. High speed broadband for laptop that actually worked ! Patio doors and iron gate that open onto
terrace and gardens. Although I don't like the aesthetic of the iron gate they are there for safety as you are on the ground floor.

Refitted bathroom with shower, en-suite dressing area with basin, vanity unit, hairdryer and
wardrobes...all very clean. Built in safe (even though it is a key lock, it is good to have a safe to store valuables). Separate fully equipped kitchen with oven and hob, microwave, large fridge/freezer, all working fine and clean. Generous provision of cutlery, crockery and glassware.

Literally a few steps through the tropical garden to the beach, it's so close, I
practically lived on the beach ! All linen including face, hand, bath and
beach towels provided and all very clean.

Maid service was excellent. I would recommend this apartment to anyone who is looking for a well looked
after apartment in an amazing location, an all you need, hassle free holiday. It really does have all the amenities needed for a self catering holiday, is near to all the local restaurants, supermarkets and entertainment. I am planning on going back very soon !!!"

"All in all Irene, our holiday was brilliant. The condo was great, the people we met were lovely, and it was very personal staying there. You can stay at any hotel, and they wouldn't give you the familiarity we experienced at the condos. My only problem now is that I need to win the lottery to buy one of my own, and as I don't even do it....!!

Harold, the mini bus driver, picked us up at the airport as we requested, and Pat met us when we arrived at Palm Beach.

Sonia, the cleaner, kept the place spotless. There were beach towels exchanged whenever she cleaned which was every other day, and she even gave us tips such as to take our empty bottles back to the bottle bank to get some money back.

The grounds were kept very tidy. Pat's partner, Chris, did a grand job, and was very sweet when I burnt my back and he picked me some Aloe Vera fresh from the garden ! The pool is a decent size and it was well tended. We lived round the pool from 7am !

We purchased take-away breakfasts from the deli at the top of the road, and that was great.

We kept the condo right up until the time we had to leave, just before 3pm. That was great, and at no charge like all these hotels. Even if we had had to leave because of incoming guests, Pat had a condo lined up for us to shower in before leaving".

Bob, Gabriel, Luc and I very much enjoyed our stay at Palm Beach. The condo suited us very well. While the kitchen is small, it is functional and very well equipped. The kingsize bed was very comfortable (Bob and I are considering switching our home mattress to foam now) and the many fans ensured that we did not have to turn on the air conditioning once! We spent a lot of time on the condo's veranda as well as by the pool and on the beach, playing cards, swimming, snorkeling. The boys are well on their way to becoming amphibians!

"The condo was very clean and the maid was friendly. We loved the fact that we could hear the gentle crashing of the waves - it was an added bonus. The property managers were friendly. We felt a sense of safety and security in this location as it was tucked in a corner with management on site. We hope to visit again".
