# 7 Porters Court is one of just 8 secluded, privately owned villas set within their own tranquil and secure landscaped tropical gardens. The villas are centred around an attractive communal swimming pool complete with a sun deck, loungers and sunshades.

THE LOCATION:-

Located on the beautiful ‘platinum’ west coast of Barbados in the parish of St. James, Porters Court is less than 200 metres from the superb white sandy beaches washed by the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Many water sports, including scuba diving and snorkelling are available locally. There are several tennis courts available for hire, and for golf enthusiasts, two of the finest courses in the Caribbean – The Royal Westmoreland and Sandy Lane - are within easy reach.

The famous Lone Star Restaurant is just a short walk away, as is the world-renowned Royal Pavilion Hotel where you can sample the superb food and first class service on offer in the beachfront restaurant – an excellent choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Alternatively, you can just chill out with a cool drink and a bite to eat in Ju Ju's beach bar which is just south of The Lone Star - or the Ramshackle Bar which is just north of it.

You will find amenities such as the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre - with its shops, cafes & cinemas, plus lots more - bars, banks, a supermarket, Post Office, medical centres, a cyber cafe and an air-conditioned shopping mall with duty free shops in Sunset Crest & Holetown - just a short bus/car journey/half hour walk away - plus an excellent selection of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Several of the bars and restaurants have tables overlooking the sea – these are ideal locations for a cooling cocktail at sundown or a romantic meal. On the way from Porters Court to Holetown you will find a few bars - the famous Groots Bar & Restaurant is a 20 minute walk away.

THE ACCOMMODATION:-

# 7 Porters Court is an attractive, detached villa. It is very elegantly furnished to reflect colonial plantation-style living. Built along a traditional yet stylish chattel house design with high pickled pine ceilings, hardwood flooring and coral stone rendering.

This modern, comfortable villa is air-conditioned throughout and there are ceiling fans in every room.

The spacious living area opens out to both the front and side of the shaded L-shaped veranda furnished with a large table and chairs - ideal for al fresco dining - complete with a ceiling fan and blinds that help to block out the sun at the end of the day and provide more privacy. This is the perfect place for peaceful relaxation watching the hummingbirds flitting between the exotic plants. You may also catch sight of the monkeys at dawn and dusk.

Inside the villa, the lounge area offers sofas and chairs, a coffee table, Cable TV, a 'multi region' DVD player, a stereo CD/radio/cassette player and a telephone for accepting incoming calls and making outgoing local calls - which are free. A wireless Broadband connection is also available for guests.

The well-equipped kitchen area includes an oven & hob, large fridge/freezer, a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, an iron & ironing board, crockery, cutlery and glassware. A ‘stable door’ leads out from the kitchen to the garden and a small charcoal BBQ is provided for guests' use.

The small utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and sink is located next to the kitchen. A powder room with a w.c. and hand basin is adjacent to that.

Both of the large bedrooms are beautifully decorated in muted, tropical tones.

The master bedroom offers a queen size bed, bedside tables and lamps, fitted wardrobes, a dressing table - complete with a hairdryer - and an en suite bath/shower/w.c. room. This bedroom has a view of the pool and direct access to the veranda.

A safety deposit box is provided for guests' valuables.

The second bedroom is adjacent to a small study area and it offers twin beds, bedside tables and lamps, fitted wardrobes, a dressing table - complete with a hairdryer - and an en suite bath/shower/w.c. room.

A folding bed can be provided for a 5th person. Alternatively, the sofa in the lounge area can be made up as a bed.

There is a private car port should you wish to hire a car during your stay.

Your housekeeper, Keri-Ann, will give you a warm Bajan welcome on your arrival at # 7 Porters Court. Please do not hesitate to ask her any questions that you may have regarding your stay in Barbados.

A welcome pack of basic groceries (provisioned to your specification) can be ordered beforehand and will be delivered to the villa prior to your arrival.

A deposit cheque (or Banker's Draft/International Money Order if you are not resident in the UK) for 25% is required to secure a booking.

Once I have received your deposit payment I will send you a Booking Confirmation, together with my 'Car Hire' and 'Before you Travel' information.

A cheque (or Banker's Draft/International Money Order if you are not resident in the UK) for the balance will be required 8 weeks prior to your arrival at # 7 Porters Court.

Should the booking be made less than 8 weeks prior to the arrival date at the accommodation, the full payment will be due.

Full payment must be completed before your stay commences. Therefore, any ‘late’ bookings must be made and finalised no less than 10 days prior to your arrival at # 7 Porters Court.

The following cancellation charges apply:-

Cancellation more than 8 weeks prior to the arrival date - Loss of deposit.

Cancellation less than 8 weeks prior to the arrival date – Loss of 100% of the total cost.

"Hello Irene,

We had a wonderful time in Barbados, and at # 7 Porters Court. It was especially pleasant to leave NY at -10°C with snow on the ground and arrive in Bridgetown at 30°. Quite a change in 5 hours.

As you had arranged, we were met by Harold at the airport in a mini bus with plenty of room for us and our luggage, and he got us to Porters Court in 35-40 minutes.

Keri-Ann was waiting for us when we arrived and she gave us the tour of # 7, the property, and the gate by # 2. Keri-Ann and all the ladies working there were most helpful and so friendly and sweet. Andrea enjoyed talking with Dennys about the plants in his beautiful gardens.

The villa was very well maintained. It had just about everything you would have at home – TV, internet, air conditioning, an ironing board, free local telephone calls, washer and dryer, and a well-equipped kitchen. There were plenty of towels and beach towels, and books to read. There was also a nice selection of brochures, maps and information about Barbados. The property was so well supplied that it is hard to think of anything lacking.

We cooked dinner two nights on the BBQ grill. Other nights we ate in Holetown at Just Grillin’, Zaccios, Sitar, and The Beach House. We had lunches at Patisserie Flindt and the restaurant at Mullins Bay. We also tried the newly-opened Ramshackle Bar right on the beach, just north of The Lone Star. We had drinks and terrific fish cakes, (we would call them fish fritters). We didn’t have dinner there, but the menu was very reasonable and the staff were very nice.

We took a cab one day to Fisherpond Great House for a special National Trust open house day. All our other trips were by walking or the buses. We went to Bridgetown and Speightstown by bus as well as several trips to Holetown. The buses are cheap, well marked and the people were very helpful for us tourists. The yellow buses with the loud music were a lot of fun ! We had a great time.

When we left, we called Harold and he was wonderfully prompt for our noon pick-up.

We want to thank you for all your help. Your friendly, quick replies were most informative and reassuring. It isn’t always easy doing business internationally, (and across three countries and in two different currencies), but you handled every detail impeccably. We would be confident in recommending Porters Court to our family and friends. Thanks for everything.

“We just got back from sunny Barbados last night and had a relaxing 10 days again staying at this delightful villa. The plans went very smoothly and I really appreciate the owner of the villa calling me when we arrived, and later to check we were settled in.

Keri Ann very kindly had the villa ready for us. It feels like our ’second home’ and I gather a lot of other visitors tell you that too, but it is so true.

The villa is so very well appointed and so very comfortable. We sleep so well as the bed is really comfortable.

We now find we can go there with less baggage as all our needs are met.

We swam in the pool every afternoon after our days on the beach.

We love Holetown and all it has to offer. The restaurants are very good and we like to try a new one each time, but also do a lot of our own cooking as we get fresh fish from the Weston Fish Market. We have got to know ‘Smokey’ the fishmonger quite well.

We would really like to book the villa again for next year.

Again, thanks so much for having us back at such short notice. It was a wise decision for us to avoid the hurricane in Bermuda, and we had a much better vacation at # 7 anyway.
