THE LOCATION:- Located at Bakers - next to the village of Rock Dundo - on the border where the parishes of St. James and St. Peter meet, the owners, Maggie and Bill, live above the apartment in their own separate home and they will give you a warm English/Bajan welcome on your arrival. They will also be more than happy to offer you any help or information during your holiday. Tight Lines (so named because Bill loves fishing !) is situated in a charming area. It is a great place to relax and, being some 400 ft. above sea level, benefits from the cooling breeze that usually descends from the hills to the east.The apartment is just a 5 minute drive inland from stunning Gibbs Beach and spectacular Mullins Bay on the beautiful ‘platinum’ west coast of Barbados. The wonderful, dramatic east coast is a 20 minute drive away. Many water sports, including scuba diving and snorkelling, are available on the west coast and 2 world-class golf courses - The Royal Westmoreland and Sandy Lane - are within easy reach. Chris' Bar and Store is less than a 5 minute walk from the apartment. The store offers basic provisions plus local daily and Sunday newspapers. Chris offers food at lunchtimes to eat-in or take-away. He also offers meals to order every evening. This service is not provided on Sundays when the store and bar close at midday. Bajan food such as chicken, pork, ribs and fish are served with chips, macaroni pie or salad and the prices are very reasonable. Chris and his wife are extremely genial hosts and Chris who is a great cricket fan keeps a very well stocked bar. It is especially popular with expat. Brits. Historic Speightstown with its shops, restaurants and bars is a 10 minute drive to the north. Sunset Crest & Holetown are a 15 minute drive to the south. Here you will find a very good selection of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets plus other amenities such as bars, banks, a supermarket, post office, medical centres, a cyber café and an air-conditioned shopping mall with duty free shops. A car is highly recommended for you to get the most out of your holiday. Many rental companies operate in Barbados and there is ample off-road parking should you wish to hire a vehicle during your stay. Maggie and Bill have negotiated an excellent deal with a local car hire company especially for Tight Lines' guests. Bus services are close at hand and they have a set rate of BDS$ 1.50 (approx. 50p) to any destination on the island. Barbados also offers a good taxi service.

THE ACCOMMODATION:-
The lounge has doors that open out to a large, furnished, shaded veranda/patio area and an enclosed garden - complete with sun
loungers. The fitted kitchen area is well-equipped with modern appliances. Facilities include an oven, hob & grill, a microwave, large fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, an iron & ironing board, crockery, cutlery and glassware. A washing machine is also available for guests’ use.
A folding single bed suitable for a child is also available. The shower/w.c. room has a good size walk-in shower and a dual voltage - 110v-240v - shaver point.
The rate shown above includes all taxes, maid service (once a week), electricity*, gas, linen and towels (except beach towels). OPTIONAL EXTRAS:- A pre-arranged taxi transfer from Grantley Adams Airport to Tight Lines. (Approx. 45 minutes drive). * Air-conditioning is available in the twin bedded room. The cost is US$ 6 per night and this is payable after guests arrive at the apartment.Unlimited broadband Internet access in the apartment at the rate of US$ 60 per week. An international telephone is installed in the apartment. Please ask Maggie & Bill for rates. Maggie and Bill have a large selection of DVD’s that can be hired for your enjoyment. Each DVD rental is BDS$ 3. Bill is a professional photographer with one of the well-known hotel resorts in Barbados and he will be happy to take photographs should you require them. He can capture your birthday or special anniversary on film or perhaps you would like a professional photograph of your holiday in Barbados. Photographs taken of you on the beach or by the sea at sunset can be arranged. Prices start at US$ 20 (BDS$ 40) per 8"x6" print or you can have your photographs put onto a disc at the rate of US$ 20 per image. Bill offers inshore fishing trips. A small amount of snorkelling equipment is available for hire:- Mask and snorkel: BDS$ 20 per day, Fins: BDS$ 20 per day, Safety flag: BDS$ 10 per day. HOW TO BOOK:- If you would like to make a booking for Tight Lines please contact Bajan Retreats on 01293 426832 (24 hour telephone/voicemail) or by e-mail to:- barbados@relaxingretreats.co.uk Credit card payments are not accepted at this time. (This is in order to keep the rates low and to avoid high bank charges for this small business). A deposit cheque or Banker's Draft for 25% is required to secure a booking. Please note that deposit payments are non-refundable. Once I have received your deposit payment, I will send you a Booking Confirmation together with some car hire details which include a 10% discount on selected car rentals. A cheque or Banker's Draft for the balance will be required 8 weeks prior to the date of your arrival at Tight Lines. As with all holidays, travel insurance is strongly recommended. 10 to 14 days before you arrive in Barbados you will receive a useful information pack that includes unique offers for use on my friends’ personalised boat trips, as well as maps and many general tips designed to help you get the most out of your holiday.GUEST BOOK.
